Making space for immigrant women

The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) had a goal to provide basic legal information to empower immigrant women and help them understand their legal rights and options.

Introducing Women Step Forward

NDWA and the We Belong Together campaign collaborated with the Immigration Advocates Network to create Women Step Forward. Our immigration experts wrote the original legal content, connected the best resources from our partners in the field and used clear, straightforward language to explain basic immigration law. We worked closely with NDWA to create a custom website that offers updates and action items, an overview of immigration law, information on workers rights, a directory of immigration legal service providers, and more.

Our Impact

Since launching, tens of thousands of immigrant domestic workers have accessed basic, reliable, and easy to understand legal information in English and Spanish. Our national directory of more than 1,000 nonprofit legal service providers, searchable by zip code or state, has been circulated widely and utilized by women across the US.
