Bring your own lunch and join the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies - California (CGRS-CA) for a free MCLE training in Santa Maria, California hosted by the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County.

Focusing on best practices for working with survivors of trauma, this training is suitable for attorneys and non-attorneys working with traumatized individuals in all practice areas. This training provides an overview to common indicators of trauma and a trauma-informed approach in legal services delivery that considers the special needs of trauma survivors. Participants will learn techniques to identify and mitigate barriers to communication when interviewing trauma survivors with an emphasis on effectively interacting with clients from diverse cultural, socio-economic, educational, and immigration backgrounds. The concepts of secondary trauma and self-care will also be introduced.
