Georgetown Law - Center for Applied Legal Studies (CALS) represents immigrants from around the world seeking asylum in the United States because of persecution in their home countries. Law students assume primary responsibility for the representation of asylum seekers under the supervision of experienced immigration attorneys. CALS serves clients in DC, Virginia, and Maryland pro bono.
We can accept:
- affirmative asylum cases before USCIS
- defensive asylum cases where clients are in Immigration Court proceedings
- referrals of asylum cases from other organizations
We have access to a wide range of languages through volunteer translators and interpreters to serve our clients.
