Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) is a global leader in the protection of unaccompanied refugee and migrant children. Launched in 2008, KIND champions a world in which every child’s rights and well-being are protected throughout their journey to safety. Since 2008, KIND has accepted over 23,000 referrals of children seeking legal representation in their immigration proceedings. KIND has welcomed more than 41,000 attendees to trainings since its founding, cultivating partnerships with over 670 law firms, corporate legal departments, law schools, and bar associations across the country.

 

Positions:

  • Program Coordinator (detained minors program) – In depth data analysis and program coordination with various stakeholders to assist in the provision of legal services to unaccompanied children in federal custody. Advanced fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Senior Paralegal (detained minors program) – Supervise 4 paralegals who provide KYRs and legal screenings to unaccompanied children in federal custody.  Advanced fluency in Spanish required.
  • Senior Attorney (detained minors program) – Supervise 3 staff attorneys who provide legal services to unaccompanied children in federal custody. Advanced fluency in Spanish required.
  • Supervising Attorney – Oversee a legal team of approximately 20 attorneys and advocates who provide direct representation and pro bono mentorship to unaccompanied children who have been released from federal custody.  Directly supervise 2 senior attorneys. Advanced fluence in Spanish required.
