This presentation will educate attorneys on providing limited scope representation to handle bond cases in Central Louisiana’s Immigration Courts. To address the lack of access to legal representation for detained immigrants in bond proceedings, members of a working group proposed and launched an innovative project that would support the development of an aspiring immigration law practitioner in Central Louisiana. After joining the LIFT program in 2016, Tinashe Chimwaza has successfully launched his practice and provided more than 150 hours of pro bono representation in bond cases. He is now offering this CLE opportunity for attorneys interested in affecting change for immigrant detainees and their families.
