Pro Bono Citizenship Day Training Session

Pennsylvania will celebrate Pro Bono Citizenship Day 2014 on Saturday, March 29, 2014. On this day, join teams of volunteer attorneys, paralegals and law students in providing free assistance to eligible lawful permanent residents who wish to apply for U.S. citizenship.

Pro Bono Citizenship Day 2014 is a collaborative community-wide project co-sponsored by the American Immigration Lawyers Association - Philadelphia Chapter, Christian Legal Clinics of Philadelphia, Esperanza Immigration Legal Services, HIAS Pennsylvania, Keystone Opportunities Center and the Lansdale Public Library, Mayor's Office on Immigrant and Multicultural Affairs (MOIMA), Multicultural Community Family Services of Upper Darby, Nationalities Service Center, Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition, Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians. More organizations are joining all the time.

Pro Bono Citizenship Day 2014 events will take place in Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Delaware Counties in southeast Pennsylvania. Attorneys from Philadelphia as well as attorneys who live and work in the other counties are needed as volunteers. The commitment is for a two hour interview between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on March 29th at one of the Pro Bono Citizenship Day sites.

Attorneys, paralegals and law students from all practice areas are welcome. You DO NOT need to be an immigration attorney to participate. Free Training Sessions on the U.S. Citizenship Procedure will be held on three dates (2 CLE credits pending) to prepare you to offer assistance during the interviews:

  • Session #1: Date: Friday, February 28, 9:00 am-11:00 am
    Location: Duane Morris, 30 South 17th Street, 12th Floor, Philadelphia

  • Session #2: Date: Thursday, March 6, 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
    Location: HIAS PA, 2100 Arch Street, 3rd Floor, Philadelphia

  • Session #3: Date: Thursday, March 20, 12:00 pm-2:00 pm
    Location: Webinar -Login information will be sent directly to registrants.
