Originally created as a “War on Poverty” program, Self-Help for the Elderly began serving seniors in San Francisco’s Chinatown community in 1966. Today, Self-Help for the Elderly serves over 35,000 seniors each year in San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Alameda counties. Self-Help for the Elderly is a member of the SF Pathways to Citizenship Initiative (SF Pathways), which aims to inform immigrants about citizenship and deliver high quality naturalization services.
