SUMMARY:Updates in Mandatory Detention and Bond
LOCATION:
DESCRIPTION:The surge in ICE arrests in the community sinc
e January 2025, coupled with recent legislation, p
olicy changes, and litigation have made mandatory
detention a quickly developing area of law with po
tentially serious consequences for our clients, th
eir families, and their communities. This webinar
will cover the current legal landscape of ICE dete
ntion, particularly ICE’s assertion that an increa
sing number of individuals are now subject to mand
atory detention. In addition, we will consider our
role as advocates in advising and strategizing re
garding the possibility of mandatory detention. Fi
nally, we will look at current trends in bond proc
eedings, which can inform us on best practices.
