In this webinar we will discuss the alarming practice of immigration judges dismissing asylum applications, often without providing an opportunity for asylum seekers to appear at a hearing or present their claim. We will discuss Executive Office for Review (EOIR) policy, Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) decisions, general asylum case law, and certain regulations concerning pretermission of asylum applications based on what are considered incomplete applications or insufficient claims, pretermission under the Asylum Cooperative Agreements, as well as other bars to asylum. The training will discuss tips to avoid rejection or pretermission before filing an asylum application as well as strategies to challenge pretermission after the application is filed. This webinar will assume basic knowledge of immigration court practice.
