Topics:
  • Immigration and Crimes
  • Citizenship
  • Naturalization
  • Enforcement

In the first webinar of our two-part controlled substances and alcohol series, we will look at how drugs and alcohol can come up in immigration cases, particularly in the context of deportability, inadmissibility, good moral character, eligibility for relief, and mandatory detention. We will consider strategies for defending noncitizen clients facing drug and alcohol allegations in the immigration context, including the impact such allegations can have on an adjudicator’s exercise of discretion. In addition, we will discuss the ways in which drug and alcohol-related allegations can impact certain noncitizens without permanent status, such as individuals with DACA, TPS, asylum, and nonimmigrant visas.
