Now, more than ever, it is critical that immigration advocates across the country obtain the skills necessary to zealously represent their clients in removal proceedings. Registration is now open for the first portion of a two-part training opportunity on representing asylum seekers in removal proceedings, which will include one virtual and one in-person training.
The initial 90-minute webinar on Feb. 24 will provide an overview of the legal requirements to establish eligibility for asylum and practical tips for how to present a compelling claim for asylum to the immigration court. We will also include a brief discussion of any new executive actions or policies affecting asylum eligibility, especially for asylum applicants in removal proceedings.
Those who attend the initial webinar on Feb. 24 will be eligible to submit a brief application for the follow-up in-person training in Columbia, South Carolina, on April 8, which will focus on trial skills. Attendance of the initial webinar is mandatory to be considered for the in-person training session. Webinar attendees will receive a recognition of attendance email which will include application information for the in-person event. Applications for the in-person event will be due by March 3 and CLINIC will notify accepted participants by March 12.
