Overview of Non-LPR Cancellation of Removal

Topics:
  • Deportation/Removal

Non-Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR) cancellation of removal is an important relief that is only available for individuals in removal proceedings. If granted, this form of relief allows an undocumented client to receive a green card. This webinar will review the requirements of non-LPR cancellation of removal and discuss the common obstacles to proving eligibility. We will discuss the heightened hardship standard for this form of relief, how a criminal conviction can bar your client from non-LPR cancellation, and proving the required ten years of continuous residence in the United States. We will also discuss some procedural challenges with non-LPR cancellation, including the statutory cap on grants that can be issued each year.
