Basic Immigration Law 40hr Virtual Training

Topics:
  • Other Immigration

World Relief is pleased to offer a 6-week virtual basic immigration law training from January 13 through February 21. The training will be conducted using the curriculum of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC).

This course will help provide the necessary training component for individuals who wish to apply for accreditation from the Department of Justice (DOJ - formerly known as BIA recognition and accreditation). DOJ recognition and accreditation allows non-attorneys working at non-profit organizations to practice immigration law. The course will provide an overview of many areas of immigration law and practice, focusing on topics most relevant to those serving and representing low-income immigrants.

Additional requirements for applying for Department of Justice (DOJ) recognition and accreditation will be discussed during the training week. Participants who pass the final exam will receive a certificate of completion from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), the authors of the training curriculum. This will help participants in the process of obtaining DOJ recognition and accreditation.

This six-week intensive course will take place online from January 13-February 21, 2025. This course will include 4-6 hours of live training weekly and will require additional reading outside of class time. Students will have two weeks to complete the final exam after the last session. Registration will close Monday, January 6th at 11:59pm ET.
