Naturalization, A Free Two-Day ILRC Training

Day One:
Day 1 will provide an overview of the legal elements for naturalization and red flag issues that can cause an applicant to be denied or even deported, including lawful admission as an LPR, continuous residence and physical presence requirements, the English/civics requirement, exceptions, and the disability waiver, as well as the requirements for the oath. During the afternoon, we will have an advanced training of non-crime good moral character issues, including smuggling, false claim, unlawful voting, and more.
Day Two:
Day 2 will begin with an advanced, in-depth discussion of Form N-648 and disability waivers. We will discuss how to fill out the new N-400 application and end with a training on derivation of citizenship.
Who can attend?
This training is FREE for the following:
- participating staff from nonprofit organizations working on naturalization and citizenship issues and their dedicated volunteer attorneys.
- private immigration legal workers working on naturalization cases who make a pro bono commitment to a non-profit immigration service provider or volunteer at a naturalization workshop.
All participants will receive a free electronic version of the ILRC's popular publication, Naturalization and U.S. Citizenship: The Essential Legal Guide, 17th Edition.
- CLE Credit Comments: Dec 5: 6.0 Hours Texas and California (Qualifies for Legal Specialization Credit) Dec 6: 4.0 Hours Texas and California (Qualifies for Legal Specialization Credit) The Immigrant Legal Resource Center is a State Bar of Texas and California approved MCLE provider. We will provide a Uniform Certificate of Attendance to attorneys who are not licensed in Texas or California. Note: MCLE credit can only be given if you attend a live, in-person seminar for the specified number of activity hours and provide your State Bar license number.
