"Alien smuggling" can affect an immigrant in several different ways:  it is a ground of inadmissibility, a ground of deportability, and a bar to good moral character. Screening for alien smuggling is important for clients in various steps in the immigration process - from consular processing, to removal proceedings, to naturalization and beyond.
