Special CLE Webinar: Serving South Asian Immigrant Survivors: Challenges, Opportunities, and Emerging Trends

Topics:
  • Other Immigration

Our special guests will provide an overview of national trends and common legal challenges facing South Asian immigrant survivors in the United States. Following this overview, they will offer insights into the nuances of safety planning and access to benefits, including educational benefits, for noncitizen South Asian survivors impacted by lack of immigration status, the long wait for lawful permanent residence experienced by South Asian immigrants on employment-based visas, ongoing Islamophobia, and rising anti-immigrant rhetoric and state legislation. This webinar will also include a discussion of the successful advocacy efforts that resulted in the I-765V work authorization benefit for survivors of battery or extreme cruelty married to nonimmigrants in H, E-3, G, and A status, and the process for accessing this crucial benefit.
