The ABA Children's Immigration Law Academy (CILA) invites you to join us as experts from the National Immigration Litigation Alliance (NILA) fill us in on the most recent case law impacting your children's immigration cases. NILA will be discussing the most up-to-date cases from the federal courts, what they mean for your clients, how to use or distinguish them, and any foundational immigration cases you can use to bolster your arguments. This webinar is part of an ongoing series.

Neha Desai and Mishan Wroe from the National Center for Youth Law will be joining NILA to present on the recent class settlements in Lucas R. v. Azar. Lucas R. is an ongoing class action lawsuit on behalf of five certified classes of unaccompanied immigrant children that seeks to deepen and expand protections for the most vulnerable children in custody. The settlements resolve three of the five claims and include relief for children with disabilities, children who are prescribed psychotropic medications, and children whose lawyers are obstructed from comprehensive representation.

Cases and litigation updates discussed by NILA will also include:
-VECINA & NILA v. Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (D. Mass.) (lawsuit related to disclosure of the Unaccompanied Child Manual of Procedures (UC MAP))
-Matter of M-R-M-S-, 28 I&N Dec. 757 (BIA 2023)
-USA v. Texas, No. 1:24-cv-00008 (W.D. Tex.) (ongoing litigation related to Texas Senate Bill 4)
-Texas v. DHS, No. 23-50869 (5th Cir. 2023)
