This 2-part training series offered in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence will provide an in-depth understanding of the impact that intimate partner violence (IPV) can have on your client, you, and the interactions between you and your client.

- Complex dynamics of relationships with intimate partner violence and the difference between healthy, unhealthy, and abusive behaviors
- Forms of abuse, impacts of abuse, and barriers that victims face
- How systemic oppression creates unique challenges for victims of IPV who hold marginalized identities
- Preconceptions and biases about victimhood and abusive partners
- Biases around mental health, substance use, and the intersection with IPV
- IPV high-risk indicators associated with homicide and serious injury
- Client-centered engagement strategies to help providers identify clients who may be experiencing or have experienced IPV
- Criminal justice responses and civil legal options for IPV victims
- NYC-specific resources available to IPV victims
