The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) is offering an online two-day training opportunity for New York State community based organizations to have their staff trained to become resident experts on public charge. Day one will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 18th via Zoom from 9:00am-11:30am. Day two will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19th via Zoom from 9:00am-11:30am. Participants are expected to attend both sessions.

Topics:

• Train colleagues and volunteers who work with community members on public charge
• Screen community members to quickly identify those who do not need to be concerned with public charge, and those who should consult with an immigration practitioner
• Incorporate public charge information into their community education efforts (whether as a standalone training or into the organization’s larger community education work)
