This training is geared towards attorneys and DOJ accredited representatives who are representing immigrants in both affirmative applications for immigration benefits and in removal proceedings, where issues regarding tax history and compliance can become a key factor in eligibility and discretion. The session will help immigration legal service providers understand the obligations of noncitizen clients to pay taxes, spot issues of incorrect filings or failure to file, and guide their clients in resolving any errors and issues in order to prevail in their immigration case.
