In recent weeks, news of the Trump administration considering a potential refugee admissions ceiling of zero has sent shock waves through the refugee community. Our mission remains more urgent than ever. Join Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS) to learn how you can be most effective in your local communities and congregations. LIRS will provide concrete suggestions for actions advocates can take, including meeting legislators while they are back in their local districts, how to make an effective phone call to elected leaders, and other ways you can vocalize support for refugees and migrants.
Topics:
- State of the US Refugee Admissions Program
- Actions one can take in their community to support refugees
- Examples of how faith and refugee leaders are mobilizing their communities
- Resources to get you started on taking action
- Update on policies affecting asylum-seekers
