Advancing Universal Representation in Your Community

National Immigration Law Center is hosting their seventh webinar in their monthly "Winning in the States" webinar series. Each month, NILC’s Winning in the States Initiative will be delving into priority state-level policy challenges and strategies with leaders in the field. NILC will share best practices and have robust discussions on how policy challenges are being tackled in real time. This month, they are teaming up with advocates from California and New Jersey for a presentation on Advancing Universal Representation in Your Community.

As detention rates and enforcement activity have increased dramatically in recent years, it’s become more important than ever for advocates to work to increase protections for immigrants in their communities. Immigrants aren’t guaranteed government-funded counsel when they are at risk of deportation, even though the stakes for them are very high — they may be at risk of being separated from their families, losing their livelihoods, or facing imminent danger in their country of origin. This webinar will focus on sharing information, guidance, and resources on universal representation with state and local advocates who are working toward expanding representation for immigrants in their communities.
