Under Criminal Procedure Law §160.59, effective Oct.7th 2017, all NY residents are now able to apply to request NY State Courts to seal up to two criminal convictions on their criminal record provided they have remained crime free for 10 years and the crimes they intend to seal are considered “eligible crimes” as defined by Criminal Procedure Law §160.59. This webinar will provide an overview of the new law, who and what specific offenses are eligible for sealing under the new law, tips for assessing eligibility for your clients, the benefits and limitations of record sealing and an overview of the process for applying to seal a conviction under CPL  §160.59. This webinar will be presented by Governor Cuomo's Council on Community Re-entry and Reintegration.
