Overview of the Role and Use of Interpreters in Domestic Field Office Interviews

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) invites you to participate in a national engagement to discuss Form G-1256, Declaration for Interpreted USCIS Interview, and the Role and Use of Interpreters in Domestic Field Office Interviews policy memorandum. Form G-1256 and the policy memorandum, which was implemented May 1, 2017 provide consistency and integrity in the use of interpreters and will ensure that customers who bring interpreters to interviews covered by the policy will have competent language assistance. During this engagement, we will discuss the key elements of the policy memorandum and Form G-1256, as well as some information regarding their background and development. Following the presentation, you will have an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback about your experiences using Form G-1256 and the policy memorandum.
