Representing Detained Clients

This training will provide a basic overview of best practices for representing detained clients. This will include detention authority and eligibility for bond and parole, practice tips for bond hearings, and an overview of visiting with clients in detention. It will also cover methods for challenging detention, discuss how recent changes to immigration law and policy have effected the use of detention, and provide an overview of the New York Immigrant Family Unity Project (NYIFUP) and eligibility for representation through the NYIFUP program. This training will be led by Andrea Saenz, Esq Supervising Attorney, Immigration Practice at Brooklyn Defender Services.
