Please join us for a timely and important briefing on several key components of the executive order on immigration interior enforcement that President Trump signed on January 25th and the implementing memo signed by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kelly on February 20th. The briefing will focus on a few critical areas, including: 1) the massive change in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) enforcement priorities that resurrect the deeply problematic Secure Communities program and vastly broaden who will be targeted by ICE; 2) the active expansion of the infamous 287(g) program, which allows certain law enforcement officers to function as federal ICE agents and has resulted in widespread documentation of racial profiling in places like Maricopa County, Arizona; and 3) threats to punish so-called “sanctuary” policies that have been adopted by well over 600 jurisdictions in order to uphold Constitutional protections.
