The announcements are part of a racist agenda to criminalize immigrants and conscript police and sheriffs into Trump's massive deportation force. This is a critical moment. We must seize upon Trump’s overreach to energize bottom up resistance. Sanctuary policies will not only be a wrench in Trump's plan, they will be a platform to lift up an ambitious agenda to get ICE out of cities and jails. We'll discuss plans to advance these local lines of defense, and establish a strong standard that rejects the false divisions among immigrant populations.
