The Immigration Advocates Network (IAN) invites you to a free webinar, rescheduled from December 8th, "Welcome to the New Recognition and Accreditation Rule." Speakers from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Legal Access Programs will provide an overview of the new rule on recognition and accreditation for non-profit programs. The rule takes effect on January 18, 2017. Currently recognized programs will need to renew under the standards of the new rule. Major changes include allowing central offices to apply for branch offices in one application, elimination of the nominal fee standard in favor of an examination of certain factors demonstrating whether the non-profit program primarily serves low-income and indigent clients, and new record-keeping requirements. The panelists are Steve Lang, Director, US DOJ EOIR Office of Legal Access Programs (OLAP) and Peggy Gleason, Assistant Program Director, OLAP. Note: this webinar will be postponed if the final rule is not published before November 10th.
