This four-week course for experienced practitioners examines select topics and complex issues related to naturalization.  Topics covered will include the exceptions to the residence requirements for spouses of U.S. citizens and members of the armed forces; representing clients with disabilities including requesting reasonable accommodations and filing disability waivers; the role of prosecutorial discretion in naturalization adjudications; applications for lawful permanent residents in removal proceedings; administrative appeals following N-400 denials; and a review of possible federal court remedies. The course starts on September 21 with access to the e-learning course website and week one assignments. Once you receive your user name and password, you may participate in a variety of activities for self-directed learning, including reading assignments, exercises, and quizzes.  The course will be interactive, with opportunities for online and real-time discussion among students, and between students and instructors. The course also includes four webinars conducted on consecutive Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. Eastern starting on September 28, 2016.  Each webinar lasts approximately 90 minutes, and is recorded and posted on the course website after the webinar is conducted.  Although we encourage participants to attend the live webinars each week, you will be able to listen to and view a recording of any webinar you are unable to attend whenever you choose to do so. This training is designed for practitioners who already have knowledge and experience related to naturalization.  Basic familiarity with: 1) immigration and nationality law vocabulary; and 2) the requirements for naturalization is assumed. Course participants will receive a course completion certificate if they (a) attend or view recordings of the weekly course webinar, and (b) complete each weekly course quiz. You have until two weeks after the last live webinar in the course to meet these requirements
