Minimizing the Barriers to Naturalization

Topics:
  • Citizenship
  • Naturalization

The National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), the University of Southern California's (USC) Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration (CSII), and Cities for Citizenship will co-host "Minimizing the Barriers to Naturalization," a webinar to share new data and discuss new trends in the naturalization of new American citizens. The webinar, hosted by Dr. Manuel Pastor, Director of the CSII, will offer attendees key insights into the eligible-to-naturalize population in the United States, along with analysis of how these populations can expand the electorate in key states. It will also discuss the broad gains, both cultural and economic, that can be made from the naturalization process. There are currently 8.8 million adult legal permanent residents in the United States who are eligible for citizenship. This webinar follows a November convening at the White House about reaching residents who lack the access and resources to naturalize.
