This two-day training conference is designed for legal workers and attorneys who work with refugees, asylees and their families on immigration law matters. The conference agenda includes presentations and discussions on current issues affecting refugees and asylees, including adjustment of status, obtaining derivative status for family members and other family reunification issues, the current political landscape toward refugees, the Central American Minors (CAM) Program, immigration consequences of crimes, naturalization, and other related issues. In addition to presentations by immigration law practitioners, participants will hear from government speakers involved with asylee and refugee issues. Interested participants will also have the opportunity to tour the Nebraska Service Center and meet with staff on the morning of March 17th (separate registration is required to participate; there is an additional $40 fee if you want to take the bus to the NSC, as outlined below).
