Ready America 2016: Implementing Immigration Action

Topics:
  • Administrative Relief
  • Deferred Action

Are you and your organization ready for the possibilities on the horizon?  Political rhetoric may suggest otherwise, but there are already a lot of good things happening that can help immigrants in need of improved legal status. And more could be just a few months away. Nearly 800,000 immigrants have already been able to improve their lives and avoid deportation under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Another 90,000 people become eligible each year. Should the Supreme Court clear the way for DACA’s expansion and the opening of Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA), 5 million or more people may be able to join them. At the 2nd annual Ready America conference Feb. 3-5, service providers, grassroots organizers, advocates and legal experts will gather to re-energize, share promising practices and make plans for what may lie ahead. Although two of President Barack Obama’s administrative relief programs remain on hold, there is still a lot of work to be done! Come learn about some of the remedies already available, share strategies, and hear stories of successful service programs. The agenda is attached.
