Volunteer Attorney Orientation

Topics:
  • Political asylum

Please join us for an informal introduction to handling a pro bono asylum case as a volunteer attorney with The Advocates for Human Rights. Join Refugee & Immigrant Program Staff Attorney Sarah Brenes to learn more about taking on a case, including how to find out about available cases, the timeline of a typical case, ethical obligations, and finding and using interpreters, among other topics.

Though targeted at new volunteers and those considering taking a case, we also encourage current volunteers with practice questions to come as well. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

No RSVP necessary.

Questions? E-mail or call Sarah Brenes at sbrenes@advrights.org or (612) 746-4684.
