  • Other Immigration

World Relief and Vineyard Columbus are offering a week-long course on the basics of immigration law for those who are interested in serving immigrants specifically with their legal immigration needs. The training will be taught by attorneys and conducted using the curriculum of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC). This course will help to provide the necessary training component for individuals who wish to apply for accreditation from the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). BIA accreditation allows non-attorneys working or volunteering at non-profit organizations to practice immigration law. The course will touch on all areas of immigration law and practice focusing on topics most relevant to those serving and representing low-income immigrants.

Cost:
The price of the training is $550 plus the cost of books. Fees include lunch and light snacks each day. Participants are responsible for breakfast, dinner and all travel costs. The books used for this course are "A Guide for Immigration Advocates" by the ILRC. The book alone costs $190 and the book plus CS version is $215. Participants are not considered registered until payment is received.

Registration:
Register at http://arenaweb.vineyardcolumbus.org/arena/default.aspx?page=3375&event=4082. If the training does not reach a certain number of registrants by December 20th, 2013, it will be cancelled. If the training is cancelled, all registrants will receive a full refund.

Accommodations:
The participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their accommodations. There are a number of hotels located within walking distance of WR Home Office in downtown Baltimore. We reserved a block of rooms at Embassy Suites, 2700 Corporate Exchange Drive, Columbus, OH 43231. Please call 614-890-8600 and ask about "Vineyard" for room rates.
