Asylum Seminar

Topics:
  • Political asylum

There is a great need for pro bono representation for women escaping socially tolerated family and domestic violence in their homelands. Please volunteer to represent one victim of socially tolerated persecution now! The seminar will mean the more to you if you first review our interview memo for your pro bono client. Lawyers' Committee pro bono asylum teams work closely with Center for Gender & Refugee Studies (CGRS) at UC Hastings to help their gender asylum applicants tell their stories of domestic abuse that the victims had thought was simply a violent fact of life, learning with your pro bono help that they do not have to live tyrannized by domestic violence in the absence of effective laws protecting their physical integrity and moral autonomy. Please email Dave Rorick at drorick@lccr.com for information on our pro bono program.
