Building Meaningful Contact with Refugees & Receiving Communities: 2 Good Practices

Topics:
  • Refugees

Building meaningful contact with refugees and receiving communities leads to all of these positive outcomes. A growing number of programs and initiatives are working to bring together refugees and longer-term receiving communities to provide opportunities for building meaningful contact and greater understanding. Finding activities of common interest - such as community gardening, learning a new language, or preparing for citizenship - are important for bringing people together in new ways. Come learn from two established programs that focus on building these kinds of connections and consider how their good contact-building practices might be applied to your own context. Although the content will focus on building contact with refugees and receiving communities specifically, all are welcome to join!
