Social security attorneys and immigration attorneys should be aware of how the social security regulations apply to non-citizens in order to be effective counsel. It is not true that you must be a citizen of the United States to be eligible for social security disability even if you do not have work history and are low income. Certain types of immigrants can apply for and receive social security disability and attorneys should be familiar with the social security rules and regulations for non-citizen eligibility.

Ms. Melnick will explore which types of immigrants may apply for SSI benefits and discuss the nuances surrounding the application process, immigrant status and maintaining benefits. This is a CLE that immigration attorneys should attend in order to properly advise clients and that social security attorneys should attend in order to expand and enhance their practices!

Speaker:
Laura Melnick
