Program Coordinator, National Immigrant Bond Fund
The National Immigrant Bond Fund is dedicated to reaffirm the values of dignity and due process by assisting immigrants swept up in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions post bond quickly in order to secure a fair hearing in immigration court. The Bond Fund works with local non-profit organizations in communities disrupted by ICE raids to match funds raised by family members to post bond for the detainee. A project of Public Interest Projects, Inc., the Bond Fund is seeking a full-time coordinator to help achieve successful project implementation.
Principal Responsibilities:
· Respond to requests nationwide for Bond Fund assistance with information on non-profit organizational eligibility and the application process
· Screen qualifications of local non-profit organizations responding to raids to receive Bond Fund assistance
· Prepare Bond Fund assistance recommendations for review and consideration by the Bond Fund Steering Committee and Public Interest Projects
· Work with the finance department of Public Interest Projects on disbursement of Bond Fund assistance to local non-profit organizations
· Provide technical assistance to local non-profit organizations receiving Bond Fund assistance on screening eligible detainees and working with families to raise at least half the required bond amount for each detainee
· Follow up with local non-profit organizations and obligors to track case progress and return of bond money to the Bond Fund at the end of a case
· Develop any additional documents, as needed, for participation by local non-profit organizations and obligors in the Bond Fund project
· Network with other national and local efforts around the country to help communities disrupted by ICE enforcement actions access legal and community support
· Assist in developing a strategic communications plan for the Bond Fund, in conjunction with the National Bond Fund Committee and Public Interest Projects
· Develop a fundraising plan in conjunction with Public Interest Projects
· Develop and maintain a database of Bond Fund donors and as appropriate, respond to individual donors
Qualifications: Education/Experience/Skills:
· Demonstrated community organizing experience or related background in responding to enforcement and/or other immigration-related actions at the community and/or national level
· Demonstrated ability to work with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including but not limited to community organizations, immigrant detention experts, faith communities, donors, mainstream and ethnic media
· Bachelor's degree, and preferably graduate/professional school work
· Possess strong organizational ability with a detail-oriented approach
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work cooperatively and complete projects on time
· Possess excellent interpersonal, communications and writing skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with databases
· Proficiency in Spanish or Portuguese preferred
· Willingness to live in New York City or Washington, D.C. preferred but not required
