Chief Executive Officer, Na Loio - Immigration Rights & Public Interest Legal Center
Founded in 1983, Na Loio - Immigrant Rights & Public Interest Legal Center has provided direct legal services for indigent immigrants and refugees in the areas of immigration law, civil rights, and public benefits for the past 25 years. A recognized leader in protecting the rights of indigent immigrants and
refugees, Na Loio also provides case management services for battered immigrants, community education, and advocacy in the public interest.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provides the organization with vision and direction consistent with its mission and values
• Leads the organization in defining its goals and strategies and implements the same
• Assures the effectiveness of the organization and the quality and impact of its work
• Oversees fiscal operations and manages resources effectively
• Nurtures and maintains the organization's partnerships and standing in the community
• Engages positively with the Board of Directors and supports ongoing Board work and development
Key Functions:
• Provides leadership and support for a staff of 9 including attorneys, paralegal, social worker, office manager, and clerical staff
• Engages in fundraising through grant proposals, direct solicitations, and special campaigns
• Monitors and oversees all programs including the preparation of program reports
• Engages in community education and outreach projects
• Collaborates with the Board of Directors in developing long range strategic plans
• Reports to the Board of Directors on a regular and ongoing basis
• Develops and monitors the annual budget, in conjunction with the Board of Directors, and ensures that proper fiscal controls are implemented
• Develops and maintains key community, statewide, and national relationships
• Oversees the programs, office, and staff on a day-to-day basis
Qualifications:
• Ability to develop, manage, and oversee non-profit or legal service programs
• Ability to engage in staff management, program planning, budgeting, fiscal oversight, and grant writing
• Exceptional communication skills, including writing and public speaking, and the ability to interact with diverse groups
• Leadership and consensus building skills
• Understands the problems facing low-income communities, immigrants, and refugees coupled with an understanding of civil rights and a demonstrated commitment to advocacy
• Law degree preferred, but not required. Substitutions may include degree in social work, public policy, non-profit or business management, or other similar background or training
Salary and Benefits:
$70,000 to $80,000 based upon experience, simple 3% matching IRA, full health, dental, vision and prescription coverage, and a generous vacation and sick leave package.
