Trainings include presentations by an immigration judge, local and national legal experts, psychiatrists/psychologists with experience in competency evaluations and mental health diagnoses, and local resource organizations serving people with mental disabilities. The training will also include a presentation of findings and recommendation of a recent Texas Appleseed study detailing challenges faced by people with mental disabilities in immigration court and the detention system.
