This panel will review the various security clearances which may affect nonimmigrant visa applicants and persons seeking entry into the United States. The panel will discuss strategies for preparing clients who may encounter security issues at the consular post or border, and will offer tips for resolving such issues.
* The Inspection Process and the Alphabet Soup of Lookout Systems (ENFORCE/IDENT, IAFIS, APIS, IBIS, CLASS, etc.)
* Overview of Security Advisory Opinions (SAOs)-When Are They Triggered and Can They Be Avoided?
* What to Expect When a Client Is Subject to an SAO-Processing Times and the Various Agencies Involved
* What to Do When the SAO Surpasses the Visa Office's Estimated Processing Time
* Communicating with the Port of Entry to Resolve Delays in Admission
* Use and Effectiveness of the Traveler's Redress Program
