This two-day training conference is designed for legal workers and attorneys who work with refugees, asylees and their families on immigration law matters. The conference agenda includes presentations and discussions on current issues affecting refugees and asylees, including adjustment of status, obtaining derivative status for family members and other family reunification issues, security-related and criminal inadmissibility grounds, waivers of inadmissibility, special immigrant status for certain Iraqi and Afghan nationals and other related issues. In addition to presentations by immigration law practitioners, participants will hear from immigration officers working at USCIS headquarters, the Nebraska Service Center and other government speakers. Interested participants will also have the opportunity to tour the Nebraska Service Center and meet with staff on the morning of March 11th.
This training is for the staff of sponsoring agencies, and other community-based organizations (CBOs) with IRS (501(c) (3)) nonprofit status and private attorneys and staff. Conference Cost:
$255 for CLINIC affiliates (dues paying members) and nonprofit agency staff from sponsoring organizations ( $765 cap with $50 materials fee per person for more than 3 attendees)
$280 for staff of other nonprofit programs (not associated with sponsoring organizations) ( $840 cap with $50 materials fee pe person with more than 3 attendees)
$410 for private attorneys and staff
$20 Optional Tour of Nebraska Service Center
**Registration fee includes training materials, continental breakfast and lunch on March 9th and 10th.**
