This training provides an overview of basic concepts in immigration law. Topics to be covered include family- and employment-based immigration, lawful permanent residency, employment authorization, grounds of inadmissibility and deportability, temporary protected status, asylum and withholding of removal, and naturalization and citizenship. No prior knowledge of immigration law is required.

Attendance at trainings is limited to staff of NYIC member agencies and the staff of government agencies, BIA-recognized agencies, and 501(c) nonprofit organizations that provide legal services under the direct supervision of an immigration attorney. The training will be conducted by Jenny Guilfoyle, Esq., of the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC).

A fee will be charged for this training. In case of economic hardship, fee waiver or reduction may be available upon request.
