The presentation will outline fundamentals on obtaining immigration benefits for adopted children from outside the United States either via an orphan or a family petition. It will provide an overview of statutory requirements and CIS filing procedures as well as guidance on immigrant visa processing, and an update on the Hague Convention on the Protection of Children and Cooperation with
Respect to InterCountry Adoption. The workshop will be conducted by Wanyong Austin, Esq., Director of Immigration Legal Services for the Lutheran Social Services of New York.
Attendance at the trainings is limited to attorneys, accredited representatives and the staff of government agencies and community based not-for-profit organizations providing services to immigrants, asylees and refugees.
A fee will be charged for this training. In case of economic hardship, fee waiver or reduction may be available upon request.
